History
Protection One was created in 1988 by PacifiCorp, a West Coast utility company. Today, affiliates of the Quadrangle Group LLC, a private equity group with more than $5 billion under management, own approximately 70% of the company's common stock outstanding.

Our Relationship with BellSouth®
In March 2001, BellSouth Corp., a Fortune 100 communications company with nearly 7 million long-distance customers and 2.7 million DSL subscribers, and Protection One entered into an agreement that involves the two companies offering a full line of security systems and security services under the name BellSouth Security Systems from Protection One.
Relationship Highlights
As part of the relationship, BellSouth offers its customers the opportunity to purchase a security system and related security services through BellSouth Security Systems from Protection One at the same time that Protection One directly markets the security systems and services to consumers. BellSouth Security Systems from Protection One is offered in 18 locations in the Southeastern United States. Consumers benefit from the experience of a nationally recognized leader in monitored security alarm systems with a local branch presence and an internal sales force; the familiar, trusted BellSouth name; and BellSouth's promotional and marketing expertise.
